Minister Han meets with Nigerian Counterpart

Minister Han met with Nigerian Minister Akinwumi Adesina of Agriculture and Rural Development and his delegation on January 13. The two sides exchanged views on deepening agricultural cooperation between China and Nigeria.

Minister Han spoke highly of achievements of agricultural cooperation between the two countries. He stated that thanks to the commitment of the two sides, China and Nigeria have conducted sound cooperation in agricultural trade, exchange of personnel and visits, human resources development and training, technical cooperation and support, and tripartite South-South Cooperation.

Minister Han put forward five suggestions for more cooperation ahead.

First, increase exchange of high-level visits and personnel to create good atmosphere for cooperation.

Second, expand cooperation within FOCAC framework to improve technical support.

Third, deepen tripartite South-South Cooperation to enrich contents of cooperation.

Fourth, explore cooperation in agricultural vocational and technical education to share experience in development.

Fifth, promote cooperation in agricultural products processing and agricultural machinery to build platforms for Chinese enterprises to invest in Nigeria.

Minister Adesina expressed full consent to Minister Han’s suggestions. He said that the visit is fruitful and Nigeria would be willing to learn from China’s achievements and experience in developing agriculture. He hoped that the two sides would strengthen pragmatic cooperation in all agricultural sectors.

Senior officials including Chief Economist Chen Mengshan attended the meeting
