Han Changfu Meets the Director-General of FAO Qu Dongyu

On November 20, Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met the visiting Director-General of FAO Qu Dongyu in Beijing. The two sides exchanged their views on strengthening cooperation.  

  

Minister Han highly appreciated Qus innovative work in the first 100 days as the head of FAO. He said that the ministry always attaches great importance to international food and agricultural cooperation, and will further intensify cooperation with FAO, and support FAOs Hand-in-Hand Initiative and other pragmatic cooperation initiatives, thus jointly making greater contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals of zero hunger and poverty eradication. He also briefed Qu on Chinas current food and agricultural production situation and the ongoing poverty alleviation efforts. 

  

Qu thanked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China for its long-term support for FAO, and he expressed his appreciation for Chinas new achievements in the development of agriculture and rural areas this year, and looked forward to strengthening FAOs cooperation with China in an effort to work together to achieve the goals set in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 

  

Pan Xianzheng, member of the Party Group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Director-General of the Personnel Department also attended the meeting.
