17th CATF concluded in Nanchang. Fair's purchase amount hit 38.1 billion yuan, 13.1% increase over 2018

The 17th China International Agricultural Trade Fair (CATF), and the first Ecological Poyang Lake and Green Agricultural Products Expo, concluded on Nov. 18 in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. The Fair’s purchase amount hit 38.1 billion yuan, up by 4.4 billion yuan over the last year, an increase of 13.1%, showing another big step towards market-based reform. The 18th CATF will be held in Chongqing. 


More than 8,000 domestic and foreign companies participated in the fair, with the number of visitors soaring to 425,000, including 80,000 professional audiences. Altogether, 23,000 buyers attended the fair, including 2,800 large buyers. With France as guest country of honor, 16 French companies and 130 French guests and exhibitors attended the fair. A total of 104 mega-enterprises including COFCO, SINOCHEM and CNADC actively participated in the fair, while some companies such as Haier made their debut in the Fair. 


The theme of this years fair  was A Paean of the PRCs 70th Anniversary, Making Agricultural Brands More Popular, and Promoting Rural Vitalization. The fair set up 18 exhibit areas including the Comprehensive Achievement Exhibition Zone, Poverty Alleviation Exhibition Zone, Digital Agriculture and Rural Areas Exhibition Zone, Human Habitat Governance Exhibition Zone and Mega-enterprise Exhibition Zone. Ten major events were held in connection with the fair. They included the National Agricultural Brand Promotion Event, the China Agricultural Brand-building Forum, and the Digital Agriculture and Rural Development Forum. Over 40 provincial-level agricultural brand promotion events were held. Through showcasing the exhibits, brand promotion, trade talks, and specialized forums, the policy of strengthening agriculture and benefiting farmers by the Party has been gaining more popularity, which could pool wisdom and consensus of the whole society, making the CATF a new platform of developing quality agriculture.
