Sub-Forum on Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries of the 3rd China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum Convenes in Samoa

Zhang Taolin, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, presided over the sub-forum on agriculture, forestry and fisheries in Apia, capital of Samoa, on Oct. 21 during the 3rd China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum. Samoa's Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Le Mamea Ropati Mualia, Vanuatu's Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity Matai Seremaiah, Micronesia's Acting Minister of Resources and Development Yamada, Strategic advisor of Papua New Guinea's Department of Agriculture and Livestock Mosiberi, and Zhou Liujun, Vice-Chairman of the China International Development and Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), attended the sub-forum. They made frank and earnest interactions and discussion on the theme of promoting pragmatic agricultural cooperation of mutual benefits.  


Zhang said agriculture was a major area for cooperation between China and Pacific island countries. Thanks to the joint efforts of the two sides, agricultural cooperation has made considerable progress; agricultural cooperation mechanisms have been gradually improved; cooperation on agricultural technical assistance has achieved remarkable progress; agricultural investment and trade have grown rapidly, thus greatly enriching the market supply of agricultural products on both sides. He said China was willing to work together with Pacific island countries to fully implement the agriculture-related programs of the 3rd China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum, proceeding with the implementation of the Action Plan on Agricultural Cooperation of China and Pacific Island Countries (2020-2022), and promoting the common development of agriculture on the two sides.  


A total of 140 delegates, including government officials and entrepreneurs from Pacific island countries and relevant sectors and provinces of China, attended the sub-forum.
