On August 26, Ma Aiguo, chief agronomist of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs met with Hans-Joachim Fuchtel, parliamentary state secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, and they exchanged their views on further strengthening agricultural cooperation between China and Germany.

Mr. Ma pointed out that as an important component in the relations between China and Germany, the pragmatic cooperation in the agricultural sector has always been at the forefront of China-EU agricultural cooperation, thus yielding fruitful results. The Sino-German Agricultural Centre represents a major innovation in cooperation between the two countries’ agricultural departments, which has effectively promoted the development of pragmatic cooperation between China and Germany. China, on the basis of mutual benefit and win-win results, is willing to strengthen the cooperation and exchanges with Germany in the areas with common concern, including agricultural trade, youth training, animal health, agricultural science and technology, and the agricultural response to climate change. Mr. Ma also spoke highly of Germany’s substantial support for and extraordinary contribution to the 2019 International Horticultural Exhibition in Beijing.

Mr. Fuchtel thanked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, as a member of the Exhibition’s Organizing Committee, for its support and assistance in construction of the German exhibition area and expressed Germany’s willingness to further consolidate and expand agricultural cooperation in various fields with China.
