China donates 100,000 fingerlings to the Philippines

China donated another 100,000 Leopard Coral Grouper (Plectropomus spp.) fingerlings to the Philippines on November 14, 2018. 

 

The donation aimed at implementing consensus by the leaders of the two countries, and is part of the MOU signed by relevant fishery departments from China and the Philippines. The 100,000 Leopard Coral Grouper fingerlings were shipped at the Qinlan Port, Wenchang, Hainan Province. Upon the request of the Philippines, China will donate 10,000 freshwater fries to the Philippines and these freshwater fries are to be sent from Guangzhou to Manila by air in the near term.

 

In 2017, China donated 100,000 Leopard Coral Grouper fries to the Philippines, the year’s donation is the second batch. Since 2016, China and the Philippines have been carrying out a series of cooperation activities in fisheries, including improving the bilateral consultation mechanisms, conducting training on fishery technology and personnel exchanges, encouraging cooperation among fishery enterprises and promoting aquatic products trade.
