Vice Minister Qu Dongyu Meets Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development of Ghana Quaye

On November 9, Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Elizabeth Afoley Quaye, Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development of Ghana, in Accra, capital of Ghana. The two sides exchanged in-depth their views on strengthening China-Ghana fisheries cooperation.

 

Qu fully acknowledged the outstanding results achieved in China-Ghana fisheries cooperation and suggested the  signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development of the Republic of Ghana on Fisheries Cooperation as soon as possible. Under the framework of the MOU, the two countries will deepen comprehensive cooperation in areas of fishing, aquaculture, building and repairing fishing boats and  fishing gears and machines in order to promote the sustained development of China-Ghana fisheries cooperation. Qu also invited Mrs. Quaye and her delegation to attend the 2019 China Fisheries & Seafood Expo in pursuit of deepening mutual understanding and cooperation in fisheries.

 

Mrs. Quaye accepted the invitation and stated that she will visit China at an early date. Ghana is willing to work with China to deepen the pragmatic fishery cooperation between the two countries step by step.

 

During his visit to Ghana, Qu also visited the Port of Tema to learn about the production of Chinese fishing vessels and held a talk with representatives of Chinese pelagic fisheries enterprises in Ghana.
