Vice Minister Qu Dongyu Meets Australian Governor of Tasmania Will Hodgman

On September 10, Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Mr. Will Hodgman, Australian Governor of Tasmania, in Beijing. The two sides exchanged their views on strengthening sustainable agricultural cooperation and development.


 

According to Qu, China and Australia maintain good relations of agricultural exchanges and cooperation. As Australia’s largest export destination country of agricultural products, China continously deepened agricultural science and technology cooperation with Tasmania and the bilateral trade in agricultural products experienced rapid development. Qu suggested that the two sides further strengthen cooperation in areas such as technology, education and science, actively carry out technical cooperation in food safety test and biological safety, promote cooperation in fishery, horticulture and animal husbandry, expand integrated development of the primary, secondary and tertiary industry and improve value chains through combing agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery, forestry, horticulture and tourism in pursuit of boosting bilateral cooperation and realizing sustainable agricultural development.


 

Mr. Hodgman expressed his thanks to the Chinses side for attaching great importance to agricultural cooperation between China and Tasmania in Australia and reaffirmed that China and Australia enjoys a profound friendship in agriculture. He agreed with suggestions proposed by the Chinese side on strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation and expressed that the Australian side would continue to further deepen cooperation in sustainable agriculture with China.
