Vice Minister Qu Dongyu Meets New Zealand Ambassador to China Clare Fearnley

On July 3, Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Ms. Clare Fearnley, New Zealand Ambassador to China, in Beijing and the two sides exchanged ideas on strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation.

According to Qu, China and New Zealand have witnessed steady progress in  agricultural exchanges and cooperation, significant improvements of cooperative mechanism, deepened scientific and technological cooperation and rapid development of agricultural trade. Qu suggested that the two sides enhance scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges in such sectors as dairy, fisheries, vegetables, fruits as well as product processing, and boost cooperation in improving agricultural value chain, in order to promote sustainable agricultural development. Qu also invited the New Zealand’s side to participate in the 16th China AG Trade Fair.

Ms. Fearnley expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for giving high priority to China-New Zealand agricultural cooperation. She agreed with the Chinese side on strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation, and expressed that she will further promote China-New Zealand agricultural cooperation.
