Vice Minister Qu Dongyu attends China-Russia Modern Agriculture Development Forum

In order to promote the “Belt and Road Initiative" and deepen China-Russia agricultural investment and trade cooperation, the China-Russia Modern Agriculture Development Forum was held in Changchun, Jilin of China on August 16, 2016. Governor Jiang Chaoliang of Jilin Province, Vice Minister Qu Dongyu and Mr. Miklushevsky, Governor of Primorsky Kray of Russia, attended and addressed the Forum.

 

Vice Minister Qu Dongyu noted that China and Russia enjoy complementarities and broad prospect for cooperation in agriculture. China's Thirteenth Five-Year Plan put forward five development concepts while Russia released its new requirements on agricultural development, bringing new opportunities for further bilateral cooperation.

 

Vice Minister Qu Dongyu also pointed out that both sides should deepen and extend the existing agricultural cooperation: first, capitalize on inter-governmental mechanisms and create a favorable environment for collaboration; second, respect and leverage the role of enterprises as the major players and provide necessary facilitation for cooperation between businesses; third, seek innovative modes of cooperation and make contributions to global food security with joint efforts; fourth, organize large agricultural expos and forums to step up agricultural trade exchanges and cooperation.

 

The Russian side spoke highly of the progress in China-Russia agricultural cooperation, and expressed the readiness to work with China to improve the investment and trade environment, and promote the bilateral cooperation in a pragmatic manner.
