Vice Minister Yu pointed out that the mechanism of China-Myanmar Agricultural Cooperation Commission was established under the consensus between Premier Li Keqiang and President of Myanmar U Thein Sein during Li’s official visit to Myanmar in 2014. The first meeting was an action to implement the consensus and will definitely promote the bilateral agricultural cooperation to a new level.

Mr. Tun Winn noted that he sincerely welcomed Yu and his delegation to the first meeting of China-Myanmar Agricultural Cooperation Commission. It was China’s first high-level delegation to Myanmar since Myanmar’s new government took office, showing that the Chinese government has attached great importance to the bilateral agricultural cooperation.

At the meeting the two sides agreed to further improve the agricultural cooperation mechanism, intensify technology exchanges, strengthen the demonstration and extension of improved crop varieties, promote joint control and prevention of transboundary animal and plant diseases, enhance collaboration in agricultural capacity building, and push forward agricultural investment cooperation in a down-to-earth manner.
