China's National Strategic Alliance for Food Nutrition and Health Industry Technology Innovation established in Beijing

The National Strategic Alliance for Food Nutrition and Health Industry Technology Innovation of China was established in Beijing on May 28, 2015.

 

The Alliance was jointly initiated by the China Rural Technology Development Center (CRTDC) of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Institute of Agro-products Processing Science and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS-IAPPST) and the Chinese Nutrition Society(CNS). IAPPST head Dai Xiaofeng and CNS President Yang Yuexin were co-presidents of the First Council of the Alliance.

 

In his speech at the opening ceremony, CRTDC head Jia Jingdun noted that in the context of the "New Normal" of China's economic and social development, and given the increasing public concerns over nutrition and health, it is of strategic significance to advance the nutrition and health industry development for sustained, stable and health economic growth of China. The Alliance will shoulder the responsibilities of ensuring nutrition and health, enhancing physical fitness, preventing chronic diseases and developing special diets for the people, in order to boost the rapid and sound development of food nutrition and health industry.

 

Dai announced the nomination list of the president, vice presidents, executive directors and secretary general of the Council. Dai pointed out that IAPPST will vigorously promote the development of the food nutrition and health industry and make it a pillar industry with competitiveness and strategic significance in the future. IAPPST will take it as its own duty to facilitate innovation-driven development, improve dietary patterns and secure food safety, national health and nutrition.

 

The opening ceremony also discussed the work plan and key tasks of the Alliance in the second half of the year. More than 150 representatives from food, agriculture, medicine and nutrition and health sectors attended the opening ceremony.
