Minister Han Changfu meets his Austrian counterpart

Minister Han Changfu met with Mr. Andrä Rupprechter, Austrian Federal Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, in Beijing on March 30, 2015.


Minister Han Changfu expressed his appreciation of the importance Austria attaches to the bilateral agricultural cooperation.He stressed that China cherishes the friendship between the two peoples and attaches great importance to developing ties with Austria. He also indicated Chinas willingness to work with Austria to promote thebilateral agricultural cooperation. To better implement the MOU between China and Austria on agricultural cooperation, Minister Han Changfu proposed to establish a joint Working Group and work out the rules of procedure, so as to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the Working Group.


Minister Han Changfu extended congratulations on the signing of the Protocol on the export of Austrian pork to China. He hopes that the two sides intensify technical cooperation and boost trade in animal products, so as to diversify the market choices for both countries. In addition, Minister Han Changfu proposed to enhance the cooperation in agri-product quality and safety.


In response, Rupprechter noted that the Austrian side highly values its agricultural cooperation with China, and briefed the Chinese side on Austria's plan to dispatch agricultural diplomat(s)to Austrian Embassy in China in 2015.


Rupprechter fully agreed with Minister Han on his proposals to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in agriculture. He invited Minister Han Changfu to visit Austria to have a better understanding of the agricultural development in Austria,hence promoting China-Austria agricultural cooperation.
