The First Meeting of China-Uzbekistan Sub-Committee on Agricultural Cooperation held in Uzbekistan

The First Meeting of Sub-Committee on Agricultural Cooperation of China-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee was held in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan on December 9, 2013. As the head of the Chinese delegation, Vice Minister Niu Dun attended the meeting.


At the meeting, both sides reviewed the latest achievements in bilateral agricultural cooperation in recent years, and exchanged views on animal production, veterinary service, plant quarantine and protection, farm machinery, agricultural research as well as human resources development. Enterprises from both countries are encouraged to cooperate in cotton machinery as well as cattle and sheep breeding and related animal product processing.


Niu stated that China and Uzbekistan are highly complementary in agriculture and have huge potential for cooperation. China will continue to support cooperation of mutual benefits between scientific institutions and enterprises. He hoped that the two sides will see the Sub-Committee as a platform to promote in-depth agricultural cooperation in a pragmatic way and bring tangible benefits to peoples of the two countries.


Nurmatov fully agreed with Niu’s comments. He said that China and Uzbekistan share long-lasting friendship. Agricultural cooperation is of great significance to bilateral relationship and peoples livelihoods. Uzbekistan is willing to work with China to further enhance agricultural cooperation.


After the meeting, the two sides signed the minutes and the 2014-2015 China-Uzbekistan Plan for Agricultural Cooperation.
