Minister Han Changfu meets Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Yim Chhayly

Minister Han Changfu met with H.E. Yim Chhayly, the visiting Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development, and H.E. Veng Sakhon, Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, in Beijing on December 21, 2017. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation.


Minister Han extended his welcome to H.E. Yim Chhayly and noted that China and Cambodia are good neighbors and good friends. The bilateral relations have stepped into a prime time of all-round development since the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2010, and agricultural cooperation has greatly facilitated the boost of bilateral ties. Minister Han suggested that agricultural authorities of both countries should fully implement the consensus reached by the leaders, enhance practical cooperation in rice breeding, plan compilation, agro-product deep processing, aquaculture, as well as animal disease prevention and control, and promote the development of modern agriculture in Cambodia.  


H.E. Yim Chhayly noted that Cambodia has supported and actively participated in President Xi’s Belt and Road Initiative, strengthened the synergy of the Initiative and Cambodia’s Rectangular Strategy for Growth, Employment, Equity and Efficiency, and achieved rapid and sustainable economic development. The Cambodian side fully agreed with Minister Han and expressed its readiness to strengthen cooperation with China, improve agro-product quality of Cambodia, expand agro-product export and bring more benefits to Cambodian farmers.


Vice Minister Qu Dongyu attended the meeting.
